Saddlebred

The American Saddlebred is characterized by high stepping and exaggerated movements. It is often referred to as the "peacock of the horse show ring".

Originally developed by plantation owners in Kentucky, it was know as the Kentucky Saddler. Used principally on the plantations for its comfortable, ground-covering gaits, and sure-footed manner the saddlebred today is used in many different equine disciplines.
